The Act1 Interactive Shopping Cart is integrated with UPS & USPS servers for the exact shipping rate of a package.
Thanks to the cooperation of UPS and USPS, we were able to run the queries and pull the
data we needed from their servers. We can also determine your shipping rates
based on weight and/or price, based on your preferences. There is no hurdle too
big that we can't jump when it comes to making the shipping price functionality work for you!
The parameters used to determine shipping rates from UPS/USPS servers is determined by the
shippers zip code (in the USA only), the delivery zip code and country, and the weight
of the products being sent. The default values are for self-packaged boxes and
weekday delivery only. UPS Options that can be used but are not shown in our demo do
include parameters for box sizes, special handling, Saturday delivery,
call for pick-up, and several other options.
The returned values from UPS and USPS become integrated into the 2nd checkout
page in our shipping method pull-down selector. The values returned are then used
in the calculation script on the page to determine the final amount of the purchase
cost. The advantage in doing this is that it allows the customers to decide how
much they would like to pay for shipping or decide how fast they would like their
product delivered to them. This becomes a major advantage to our clients because
they provide their customers with one more purchase option, cost vs. speed to their door.
